Gurugram: Woman found raped, killed; cops look for her elder son | Gurgaon News – Times of India

GURUGRAM: A 45-year-old woman was allegedly raped and murdered in Hailey Mandi in Pataudi on Monday. Police said they are looking for her eldest son from her first marriage after her husband alleged that he was involved in the crime.
While police initially considered it a case of suicide, a post-mortem, conducted on Wednesday after the woman’s husband filed a complaint, revealed sexual assault and strangulation. An FIR was registered on Thursday against an unknown person under IPC sections 306 (abetment to suicide) and 376 (rape) at Pataudi police station.
The woman got married in 1995 and had a son and a daughter. After her husband died in 1998, she got married to his younger brother and had a son with him. Her husband claimed her elder son was addicted to alcohol and drugs, and would often have arguments with other family members. “A month ago, he threw me out of the house,” the man alleged, adding he was informed about his wife’s death by her daughter.
When asked why police had not added murder charges, an officer said they had found ropes at the crime scene and considered it a case of abetment to suicide. “Murder section can be added later,” said DCP (Manesar) Nikita Gahlaut.
(The victim’s identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
