Parthala Chowk most polluted in Noida: Study | Noida News

NOIDA: Parthala Chowk or Vikas Marg near Sector 121 is the most polluted area in the city, a study of surface dust samples collected over four days from 10 places has shown.
The area has a heavy concentration of light dust particles that are smaller than 75 microns and susceptible to spreading fast with vehicular traffic, the study by the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) has revealed.

The second-most polluted area, according to the study, is the stretch from Sector 129 to Sector 155. Both areas would be under strict vigilance, the UPPCB has said.
It has directed the Noida Authority to take up additional measures to control dust pollution in these two area. After a few weeks, the board will conduct another round of road dust test near these locations to check if the mitigation measures implemented by the Noida Authority have borne results.
According to the findings of the study shared by the regional office of UPPCB, Gautam Budh Nagar, at Parthala Chowk, the total dust sample suctioned was 552 g. Of this, 159 g of dust turned out to be smaller than 75 microns. At the Sector 129-155 stretch, the total dust collected was 536 g and 108 g of that was smaller than 75 microns.
“The stretch near Parthala has the heaviest dust cover. It is partially because Noida Extension is quite close to the place and construction dust is heavy in the area. For all the spots, which we have found to be heavily dusty, pollution control measures will have to be enhanced by the Noida Authority. We will repeat the test to check the efficacy of the control measures. Next time, we will not pick sample from the very same spots, but a little distance away from the spots,” regional officer, UPPCB, Gautam Budh Nagar, Praveen Kumar, said.
In Gautam Budh Nagar, samples were collected from 10 spots in Noida.
